All one shots must be received no later than 1st March 2013 fully beta’d. If you do not have a regular beta, contact the wonderful project team beta http://projectteambeta.com/ We ask you to hold off posting until at least 1st April 2013, if you wish to anywhere, to allow those who have paid for the compilation enough time to read.

Please remember, this year each one shot is to be completely original. No Fanfiction (for the extra challenge). As long as each one shot is more than 1,500 words, we don’t mind how long or short it is.

Fandom for Heroes 2012

Hi all,

Welcome to the 2nd year of Fandom for Heroes fundraiser.  Once again, we wanted to launch it today, for obvious reasons, but you'll need to bear with us for a short while as we pull this whole thing together.

Once again, we are hoping to help more than one charity, we will still be helping Help for Heroes, but in place of The Poppy Appeal, we are hoping to raise money for the amazing charity, The Soldier's Charity which provides lifelong help to serving and retired soldiers. We have left links up for The poppy Appeal as we all still believe that this charity is is extremely important in helping those serving our country and raising awareness of the help they need. 

We ask you all to take a look at the websites linked above to see the full extent of what we are hoping to help a little with.  We would also like to hear if any relevant stories to this that you, as a fandom, can share with us as to why this cause is important to you.  There will be a page set up here for these stories, so please contact us at fandomforheroes@gmail.com to share.

This will work in the usual way, we ask any authors out there who would like to donate a piece to the compilation that we will put together, to sign up (form for this to follow), and anybody who wishes to support us, to make a donation to either charity and present us with the receipt, to receive the compilation.

This year, there is a twist. Many of you may have received an email sent out a while ago, but this year we are hoping to challenge you all by asking you to donate only Original Pieces of Fiction rather than fanfiction. We all still love fanfiction, but we believe you are all amazing writers and you CAN do this.  Please, please help us to spread the word about what we are doing.  You can find us on Twitter here:@fandom4heroes

Fandom 4 Heroes 2011 Round-up

So, our first Fandom 4 Heroes is all wrapped up.  We've said this so many times, but truly, thank you to everybody who helped to make this possible, either behind the scenes, with your writing, beta'ing, banner-making, donating, or general pimping out of the cause.

Our final total stands at an excellent  £450!!

Well done everybody, what a brilliant result! :o)

Another Auction

If you are a 100 Monkeys fan, we have another treat for you. A wonderful photographer friend has donated 8 fantastic photos taken at the London show on 15 Dec 2011 at the O2 Academy Islington. Please help us raise an amazing amount for an extremely worthy cause.

Announcement: Extension to contribution and Donation Time

We have decided to extend the writing time as a few people (organisers included) have been struggling with getting their one shots/chapters written in time. So, rather than needing to get your contribution or donation to us by 14 Feb, you now have until 21 Feb.

Please continue to pimp out the fact that you are contributing your time/money to this wonderful cause and hopefully help make the lives of injured service men and women a little better.

Thank you to those who have already submitted their contributions, they are wonderful.

Donations Update

As there are just over 2 weeks until the story donations are due in so we can compile the compilation to send out, we thought we'd let you know how donations are going.

The auction raised a whopping $109 (£70) for the photo kindly donated by Jodie Platz. Thank you to everyone that bid, and congratulations to the winner!

As for the donations for the compilation, we have (so far) raised $150 (£95).

The extremely generous Jodie Platz has donated this picture of 100 Monkeys taken at the San Diego soundcheck during their Liquid Zoo tour in the summer of 2011. If you would like to bid on this picture, send an email to fandomforheroes@gmail.com from Sunday 15 January. The only details you need to give is your name and the amount you bid.

At the end of each day, we sall be tweeting the highest bid of that day.
